New Delhi [India], April 1: BlueRose Publishers proudly announces the release of Student Politics of IIT Madras: Of the Students, By the Chief, For the People, authored by Thakur Sushant Singh Jaswal, a final-year student at IIT Madras and a dynamic force in student politics. Known for his leadership roles within the institution, Thakur Sushant offers a fresh and authentic perspective on the inner workings of student government—one of the least discussed yet most critical aspects of campus life.

BlueRose Publishers works closely with writers to help them publish their debut books, making the first-time writing experience even more memorable. There is something uniquely rewarding about seeing one’s first work come to life in print.

This insightful book follows Thakur Sushant’s successful debut work, The Jaswan Chronicles, which chronicled the history of one of the oldest clans in Himachal Pradesh. However, his latest endeavor tackles a subject that resonates with a broader audience, primarily teenagers and college students, as it explores the vibrant and democratic student politics of one of India’s most prestigious institutes, IIT Madras.

At the heart of the book is a comprehensive exploration of the unique student political system at IIT Madras, where Thakur Sushant played an influential role as the Chief Commissioner of the Student Ethics & Constitution Commission (SECC) and the Student Election Commission (SEC). His pivotal contribution to organizing India’s first blockchain-based campus elections in 2023 sets the stage for the book’s core narrative, offering readers an inside look at the challenges, innovations, and successes of student governance.

Reflecting on his journey, Thakur Sushant shares, “The student political system at IIT Madras is not just a reflection of governance within an academic institution but a microcosm of democratic ideals at play. Through this book, I aim to highlight not only the electoral processes and ethical dilemmas but also to provide a lens through which young leaders can understand the impact of governance and responsible leadership.”

A Book That Inspires Future Leaders

Student Politics of IIT Madras is not just a recounting of events but a guide for aspiring student leaders and young minds stepping into the realm of campus governance. Through a blend of sharp observations, critical analysis, and personal anecdotes, Sushant illustrates the nuances of student elections, the role of leaders in upholding democratic principles, and the ethical crossroads that define the politics of IIT Madras.

For Thakur Sushant, this book is not merely a documentation of his past but a tool to inspire future generations of student leaders across India to embrace transparency, accountability, and innovation in governance. He says, “There’s something very special about student politics at IIT Madras. It’s not just about elections—it’s about tradition, innovation, and a constant striving for excellence. I hope this book helps others learn from the mistakes I made and encourages them to dream bigger, just as my mentor, Prof. V. Kamakoti (Director of IIT Madras), once advised me.”

An Ordinary Student with Extraordinary Aspirations

Despite his impressive accomplishments in leadership, Thakur Sushant humbly identifies as “a writer by chance, not by choice.” His book stems from a desire to share his experiences with a larger audience, aiming to highlight the efforts of hardworking students and professors who have contributed to shaping the unique democratic culture at IIT Madras. “Writing was the most feasible way for me to narrate the happenings within IIT Madras and ensure that people recognize the power and vibrancy of student politics,” says Thakur Sushant.

True to his diverse interests, Thakur Sushant is also a recipient of the NCC ‘C’ Certificate with ‘A’ Division as the Senior Under Officer, the Bharat Scouts & Guides Governor’s Award, and the IIT Madras Institute Merit Award for academic excellence. When not immersed in academics or student governance, he enjoys playing frisbee, basketball, and weightlifting and is an avid orator, dancer, and guitarist.

A Glimpse into the Future

Thakur Sushant’s future in writing remains open-ended. While he is not currently planning another book, he expresses a keen interest in exploring non-fiction, mythological, and autobiographical genres down the line. For now, Student Politics of IIT Madras stands as a testament to his passion for governance, leadership, and ethical reform.

The book is available for purchase online and at major bookstores nationwide. Thakur Sushant invites readers to not only understand the nuances of student politics but also look between the lines for valuable life lessons on leadership and governance.
