IAFS President visits NFSU, appoints Dr. J.M. Vyas ‘Global Forensic Ambassador’
New Delhi [India], November 15: Prof. Yanko Kolev also delivered a distinguished talk at NFSU
National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, hosted a distinguished talk by Prof. Yanko Kolev, M.D., Ph.D., President of the International Association of Forensic Sciences (IAFS). The event marked a momentous occasion as Padma Shri Awardee, Dr. J.M. Vyas, founder Vice Chancellor of NFSU, was officially appointed as an Ambassador of IAFS.
In his address, Prof. Kolev lauded Dr. Vyas for his exemplary leadership in advancing forensic science and announced his induction into the International Advisory Committee for the upcoming IAFS-2026 Congress, scheduled to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 25–30 May 2026.
Prof. Kolev also expressed his admiration for NFSU, “the world’s first and only forensic sciences university” and emphasized the global relevance of its academic and research contributions. Prof. Kolev shed light on the intricate challenges confronting today’s criminal investigations. He emphasized that the path forward lies in embracing cutting-edge tools and emerging technologies, which can significantly enhance accuracy, efficiency, and justice delivery in forensic science.
During the distinguished talk, Aircommodore Kedar Thakaar, Campus Director, NFSU-Uganda; Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Campus Director, NFSU-Goa; Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Campus Director, NFSU-Delhi; Faculty members and students of NFSU were present.
